Thoughts of Weddings

I definitely feel like a girl the older I get. Not that I'm saying I haven't been a girl my whole existence. Recently I've been thinking of weddings. I love photographing them, and being apart of them. But most of all I look forward to my wedding. That's when my girly moments take flight. I think over and over of the things I've experienced. What I like, what I dislike. So lately, as I think more about what I'd have at my wedding, I fathom the amazing capabilities people have to put together such beautiful wedding receptions. I become puzzled, and undecided on colors. I love black, silver, and violet, but my sister laura did that, so that is X'ed out. Then I've thought that a black and white wedding with Rose red and Wine Purple would be beautiful. But then someone told me that sounded like a black persons wedding. I'm really not sure how. I was thinking of it nice from a black and white perspective with just the right colors. Plus I'm a sucker for deep red roses. Not that they are my only favorite flowers, I also love Asiatic Lilies, Daisies, and other flowers. So i'm sure I'll find something that I love. Here are a few of my ideas so far for my dream wedding:
My dream dress:

I actually tried this dress on my third year of college with my room mates. It was at a dress shop on mainstreet, near the college :) I've loved it ever since. Only problem was the length, I'll definitely have to add fabric to it.
The Asiatic flower looks like this:

Painting

As many of you may already know, I not only love photography, but I also love to paint. My last painting was of a photograph that my friend Scott Jarvie had taken at a family reunion. He was very kind to let me use his image for a painting. Here is the progress of the painting and the final image:
My sister Sara really wants me to do a painting for her of this dress she saw online. We weren't really sure what medium the artist used in this photo, so I'm going to try a different set of mediums all on water color paper, then do the final painting with the mediums of choice.
It may take me a little while to find those other photos. as for now, this is my progress on the dress painting.

Our 5 1/2 anniversary

It has been so nice to be able to go to work, knowing that i have a job, and being paid every week. I really shouldn't complain on the lack of health benefits, and commute time. I should feel blessed for being able to have a job in this awful economy, and to be able to pay my bills. Little by little, I am reaching my goals of financial stability, and am looking into buying my own health benefits through my pay. Maybe in a few months, when i hit my year mark at Disneyland, greater opportunities will present themselves. That would be nice.
In reflection of blessings, I love my job, I've finished school, and I have an amazing boyfriend whom I love and adore. And to have those feelings in return is almost like walking on cloud 9.
Last night after work, and taking a nice nap, Josh came over to pick me up and go somewhere. I thought we'd just go out for a walk, or something of that sort. So I was in my usual relaxing after work clothes. Which consisted of shorts, and an undershirt. When I made my way downstairs, he was dressed up nice in his maroon shirt, overlaid with his date night shirt, and a pair of khaki cargo shorts. Of course to my lack of acknowledgement of my surroundings, I didn't make the connection that he was wearing his date night shirt until he asked if I was ready, and how we couldn't be late for the Cheesecake Factory. What a sweet guy. He was taking me out to dinner to celebrate our 5 and a 1/2 anniversary. That is where we ate on our first date.
For those of you who do not know, Josh and I have had quite a fun journey in our courtship. Which I can't go into detail at the moment, or this blog would turn into a novel. But I can let you into a sneak peak as to the highlights or interests of our story. On my part through the dating process, I've ruined some of the great events that the man in the relationship usually initiates to begin certain events in the relationship. After going to Disneyland with Josh and some friends a couple of times, I got to really liking Josh. He even saved me from a flat tire, and accompanied me to some church activities. After having a great time up in Big Bear, seeing a friend give his farewell talk for his mission in his ward, Josh asked me to be his girlfriend. And this was before we had even gone on our first actual date. But I accepted and things started to blossom. ( i'll definitely have to go into more details from these events later. what fun stories to tell ) But back to me ruining, or taking a step into things. I don't know why I do this, it's just a part of me. And if I wasn't so annoying to hurry things up, there's a chance that Josh and I wouldn't have started our courtship as soon as we did. I ruined our first kiss. He wanted to kiss me after going to disneyland one night. He had tallied up his points in a game we were playing and wanted to redeem them for a good night kiss. But I told him we hadn't even had our first date. Then one night when watching a movie at his house, he accidently hit my hand into a wall, and kissed it better. But i told him that he missed, and of course he was nervous, and it was so cute and sweet, then he kissed me. I'm sure i've missed some details, but that's what Josh is for, to fill in the blanks.
Anyways,"I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it" -Elf

Happiest 4th of July

This past Sunday I slept in, went to work, (which wasn't really much work, but got paid time and a half for going to a 4 hour shift, and only ended up really working for maybe an hour of it), ate a delicious meal at a family friends house, then spent some time with josh, leighann, and peter to blow things up. Or in other words, knowing me, I watched the men blow things up as I took photos :) It was a good fourth of july, and here are some photos from this years celebration :)

Busy with Photography

For the past couple of months I have been really busy with my photogrpahy business. I'm so glad that business is picking up this year. It is so refreshing and fun to know that people enjoy my work. If only they knew how much I enjoy doing it.
I've photographed two engagements this year, booked 3 possibly 4 weddings this year, and really adding a fresh new look to my work through my graphic design experience. I hope that through all of this new business that I'm taking in, and my ideas that I'll get more business...Here is some of the work that I've done. Hope you enjoy it. And if you have any suggestions, or feedback, let me know. I love constructive criticism :)

This One's for you Jess

So ever since the beginning of this month, I have been scrapbooking. A long lost talent and joy that I used to find myself doing a lot. My friend, and now cousin-in-law Katie (who married my favorite cousin), invited me over one day to scrapbook with her and our friend Michelle. And ever since then i've been on this scrapbooking kick. And since that wonderful day where I started to scrapbook, I have bought more scrapbooking supplies, updated my scrapbook due to the fact that duct tape just wasn't holding the last one together very well, and also more time to view photos. Which the later one takes me down memory lane a little more.
So here is the picture for today:

This is a picture from Christmas of 2006. This is me and my friend Jessica, who at the time was my room mate at the time. What we didn't know before this picture was taken was that we would be on the same flight out of utah. I had left early that morning, caught a bus from idaho down to utah, and then sat in the airport for a good 4 hours before I ever went through the gate and to my waiting area. Only to find myself there with my roomie. It was a really funny coincidence. We both knew that we were flying out of the SLC airport that evening, we just hadn't made the connection of us being on the same flight. This photo brings back good and bad memories. That semester was definitely a rough one with room mate drama, and other things. If it wasn't for the company of Jessica that semester, I don't know what I would've done. Jessica and I had met our first semester at BYU-Idaho. She was one of my first roommates, amongst Alissa Mortensen, and Megan Lake. We had a lot of fun those couple of years, and I still think of us as the Fab 4 :) Love those girls....

Having fun with a Head on a pole (This one is a story within its self...ha ha good times with a manican head...We would visit people around campus with this head, trying to get them creeped out or answer their doors with only this head :) Good times )

Another Head picture with Jess, And Shane Lindstrom in the background looks like his head is floating too :)

Reminiscing

So after "spring cleaning" my external hard-drive of repeat photos, I thought I would start up something new on my blog. I thought I would pick a favorite picture from my hard-drive and reminisce about it, explaining the story behind the photo. So here we begin.....

One of my most favorite movies is called "Better Off Dead". Lane Meyer is a depressed teen who looses his girlfriend Beth. This is her reason for the split; "Lane, I think it'd be in my best interest if I dated somebody more popular. Better looking. Drived a nicer car." Anyway, poor Lane is left alone and thinks up treacherous ways of killing himself. He finally meets a French beauty called Monique and falls for her. Simultaneously, he must endure his mothers terrible cooking which literally slides off the table, his disgusting next door neighbour Ricky (and his mum) and he must prepare for the skiing race of his life - to get his old girlfriend back! So why wouldn't this be anyone's favorite movie? All I can say is don't knock it till you see it.
Anyways in college, I would introduce any of my roomates each semester with this movie. Well it was a total hit my first year of college in Perkins Hall, up at BYU Idaho. My room mates at the time: Michelle NeSmith, and Natalie Johnson, were great participants as well as some of my neighbors: Danielle Doutre and others.
There is a scene in the movie where depressed Lane is in the bathroom cleaning out his ears with Q-tips, and then gets carried away with sticking q-tips everywhere else including his nose and mouth. Then his Dad who is worried that things his son is going insane, walks in and sees Lane with all of these q-tips in various spots on his head. Great scene. I am not sure if Dani, or Michelle really got the point of it all, but it was still a fun activity, and I loved our random activities in that apartment.
This one is for you girls :)

Black Tights...The New Fashion?

So last night as I was closing my shift, my co-worker and I were heading back to our station so I could clock-out. On our way back there was another cast member walking back to the shuttle. She was wearing a long sleeved shirt, those black tights ans oggs....I am not a big fan of the black tight fashion. I started laughing because her tights were see-through, and I could see her black cheek hugging thong....Oh yes. Even though it was dark outside and raining, it was still very clear to see. My co-worker was laughing too. I asked him what was so funny, wondering if he just saw what i saw, and he wouldn't tell me. So when we made it back to our base to clock out, I asked him if he saw it. And he did, we both started laughing. I was going to tell the girl, but she was a fast walker, and there were too many people around. I didn't want to embarrass her with a scene. I guess, that is the risk girls take in wearing black tights, and black tights only....
